Do you remember the shepherd boy named David, that we read about yesterday?. He spent a lot of time outside in the fields while he tended his fathers sheep. He played music on a harp and wrote songs, that are called Psalms. Later the shepherd boy became a great king who was chosen by God to lead His people Israel. At some point in David's life he wrote the following Psalm (song). I can imagine him on a hillside, bedded down with his sheep, looking up into the night sky, amazed with it's vastness and glory. By comparison he must have felt so small and insignificant.
"When I look at the night sky and see the work of Your fingers,
the moon and the stars, you set in place-
what are people that you should think about them,
mere mortals that you should care for them?"
Psalm 8:3-4
the moon and the stars, you set in place-
what are people that you should think about them,
mere mortals that you should care for them?"
Psalm 8:3-4
In comparison to a huge universe we are very small and can feel insignificant, like we don't really matter. Who am I that God should care about me? We will look at promises (prophecies) made by God to His people. As we continue with Advent we will see more of these promises and how God answers David's question. In the answer to David is a promise to us 3,000 years later. God's answer to David is the hope for all humans.
Talk About: Who am I that God should care about me?
Family activity: Who am I? Go outside with mom and dad and look at the night sky. If there are no clouds or fog you will see lots of stars.
Pray to Him and thank Him for His wonderful creation and love for us, even though we are small..
How do we make an advent wreath? Make Wreath
How do we celebrate Advent? What is Advent
