Family Night- Fourth Week

A Fathers Heritage to Share by CM Dudash
Sunday's Reading: Matthew 2:1-12, Micah 5:2
Tonight is our fourth and final Advent Sunday. The themes are Fulfillment and LOVE. Tonight you get to light four candles. See side bar for more info. Dad's and Mom's take this time with your children to read this right out of Matthew as listed above. Reading to our children and leading them into a life of faith in Christ is the most valuable gift we can give to them, extending into eternity. Let your kids read if they are able and discuss the story as you all follow along.

The main idea in the post below is how God brought together the people He chose to witness the birth of His Son. This story focus' on the decree of Caesar to bring about the census, bringing Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem. Jesus was born here fulfilling the prophecy in Micah listed above. And the story shows the coming of the Maji and Herod's response. See more info in the commentary below.

Activity: Color Sheet, see side bar

Talk about: How an orchestra conductor conducts an orchestra, keeping many elements going on at the same time. Relate this to the story of Christs birth and all the separate people following God and coming together. Even Caesar obeyed God in decreeing the census. All of this comes to a great and moving climax, as Christ is Born!
Sing: We Three Kings of Orient Are,
Thank God for "orchestrating" the arrival of His Son
