Christs Birth Announced to Mary

Luke 1:26-38

Imagine as you read , being Mary, just a teen and being visited by the angel Gabriel She must have been frightened. When Gabriel see's her concern and says: "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. " She must have been blessed knowing she has favor with God.

But how confusing for her to hear she will give birth to a son. "How can this be since I do not know a man?" She must have wondered what Joseph and her parents would think. What would happen to her, to be pregnant without a husband during that time in Israel?

"The power of the Holy Spirit
will over shadow you...
For with God nothing is impossible. "

Mary's responds to this news.

"Behold the maid servant of the Lord.
Let it be to me according to your word."

She has a humble, surrendered heart. No wonder she found favor with God.

"God resists the proud,
but gives grace (favor) to the humble."
James 4:6

Imagine the sense of awe and wonder Mary must have felt as the glory of an Angel from heaven stood before her.

Talk about: What did Mary (Luke 1:26-38)and Zechariah (Luke 1:11-20) feel when the angel appeared? Do you think this angel was pretty like the woman angels you see in pictures or was this angel strong and manly? Look at both stories of Mary and especially Zechariah. Do you think that the visitation of the Angel Gabriel to Mary and Zechariah  gives us a glimpse of the amazing glory of heaven? What must heaven be like?

What amazes you? As you learn about the Christmas story I hope you become amazed that God came to earth to redeem us from the darkness of sin and provided a way for us to find the light of God's love and forgiveness in our life.

Sing to Jesus: O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Angels we have heard on high

Pray to God: Thank Him for His amazing plan for us and for sending His Son.

Be blessed by Mary's humility and servants heart. She is an inspiration to me, as I walk out this day with my family.

"Behold the maid servant of the Lord.
Let it be to me according to your word."
